Hi, I’m Elyse.

Elyse Sadtler is an Internationally Certified Natural Henna Artist based in the rolling hills of Northwest Connecticut. After being introduced to henna by an Indian friend, she became passionate about this ancient art form. In 2017, she founded Henna By Elyse. As a self-taught professional, she enjoys experimenting with various design elements from intricate Indian patterns to geometric Moroccan motifs. A state certified educator by trade, Elyse puts her love of teaching to use by offering workshops and classes to teach others about this beautiful form of body art. Henna allows for endless creative expression, and she enjoys sharing it with others!

Henna Artist as Facilitator

“Over time I have realized that I am more than just a henna artist. I enjoy sharing this art for art’s sake, and oftentimes I also find myself in the role as a facilitator, too. Like the time I was hired to provide henna for a 10th birthday goddess celebration with the birthday girl, her mom and another special adult woman in her life. Henna was the part of the ceremony that represented the Earth element. I was invited to light a candle and share a wish each adult had for the birthday girl at the start of the celebration: May you find joy in change.”

“As I hennaed each person’s hands, I shared my knowledge of henna’s ceremonial uses tor blessing and protection, and incorporated special goddess symbols, like spirals, in each person’s design. We enjoyed sharing stories and listening to music as I worked.”
